How Often Do Beagle Puppies Pee?

Beagle puppies pee a lot. Their bladders are small, their muscles are still developing, and they get excited easily. In general, a Beagle puppy may need to pee every 30 to 60 minutes when awake, and always after key events like eating, drinking, playing, or waking up. As they grow, the time between potty breaks slowly increases.

Usual pee frequency by age

These ranges are averages. Some puppies need a little more or less depending on size, activity, and routine.

8 to 10 weeks old

  • About every 30 to 45 minutes while awake.
  • Right after naps, meals, drinking, and play.
  • May still need a nighttime potty break.

10 to 12 weeks old

  • About every 45 to 60 minutes while awake.
  • Usually, 1 to 2 nighttime breaks, depending on the schedule.

3 to 4 months old

  • About every 1 to 2 hours while awake.
  • Many can sleep longer at night but may still wake once.

4 to 6 months old

  • About every 2 to 3 hours while awake.
  • Most can sleep through the night if the last potty is late enough.

Why do Beagle puppies pee so often

  • Small bladder capacity – they physically cannot hold much yet.
  • Weak bladder control – muscles and nerves are still maturing.
  • High activity – Beagles are busy, playful pups, and movement triggers peeing.
  • Excitement – greetings and play can squeeze out urine faster.

Best times to take your Beagle puppy out

If you catch these moments, you prevent most accidents.

  • Right after waking up from any nap.
  • Within 5 to 10 minutes after eating.
  • Right after drinking a noticeable amount of water.
  • After play or training sessions.
  • Before crate time or bedtime.
  • Any time they start sniffing and circling indoors.

Signs your puppy needs to pee

  • Sudden sniffing of the floor.
  • Circling a small area.
  • Wandering away from you quietly.
  • Whining or scratching near a door.
  • Restlessness in the crate.

When frequent peeing is not normal

Talk to your vet if you notice…

  • Peeing tiny amounts every few minutes.
  • Straining, crying, or seeming painful while peeing.
  • Blood-tinged urine or strong foul odor.
  • Sudden increase in accidents after progress.
  • Excessive thirst along with constant peeing.

Beagle puppies often need to pee every 30 to 60 minutes when awake, especially under 12 weeks old. Expect frequent potty breaks after sleep, food, water, and play. As your puppy approaches 4 to 6 months, they should start holding it longer, but consistent routines and quick trips outside are still the key to solid house training.
